Amanpulo, Rio Tuba, DMCI among top real property taxpayers in Palawan

Luxury resort Amanpulo in Cuyo and mining firm Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation in Bataraza topped this year’s list of outstanding corporate real property taxpayers honored by the provincial government of Palawan during its annual “Gabi ng Parangal” held on June 18 at the VJR Hall.

Amanpulo Resorts was awarded Top 1 Corporate Taxpayer, followed by Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp. and DMCI Power Corporation Palawan, which operates in the municipalities of Narra and Aborlan.

Ten Knots Philippines, Inc. and EcoNorth Resort Ventures, Inc., both based in El Nido, ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

Governor Dennis Socrates, who led the awarding ceremony, emphasized the role of large taxpayers in supporting local government operations.

The province also recognized the Top 5 Individual Real Property Taxpayers, with Orley Ong of Coron taking first place. He was followed by Apolinario Villamor Jr. (Coron), Ferdinand Chua Go (El Nido), Luthgardo Cruz (Coron), and Gil Macatangay (El Nido).

Municipal officials were likewise recognized, including the Top 5 Municipal Treasurers led by Maximo Ardoña of El Nido. Others on the list were Renato de Vera (Culion), Elsa Pedrez (Roxas), Emma Tabangay (Brooke’s Point), and Andrew Vicente Garcellano (Coron).

The Most Outstanding Municipal Assessors award went to Geraldine Tan of El Nido, followed by Elvira Sumawang (Narra), Janet Quiño (Brooke’s Point), Vicenta Rabanal (Bataraza), and Doris Arcoyo (Quezon).

Three public servants were also given the Governor DMS Awards for exemplary service: Dr. Bon Karlo Ladia of Bataraza District Hospital, Dr. Ryan Ruiz of Coron District Hospital, and Angelique Songco of Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park.
